there are thousands of research result release every year, most of them are neither shocking nor new. Same as this one.
I am sure if u asked the same question in our course. 99% of us will tell u they are unswayed by celebrity!
"most of us would rather die than admit to being 'swayed by glamour' in a purchase decision."
It might be too exaggerated, but i cant agree with it more. it is just not cool to admit it!
I still don get it! what is the point of doing such research while the market has already give us the answer! if celebrity doesn't work in sale! why does more and more brand using idol as their living promotion, u think they are idiot?
no problem DD, you have not offended anyone. It's a free world and that's the reason why I've posted this here - to raise a discussion.
One thing we can learn from it is the fact that research could be misleading. We have to bear this in mind and so don't blindly trust what you got from your research.
I used to get responses from students when they were confronted with their ideas like these: "Because I have asked my classmates and they all preferred this color, or slogan..."
"Because I have done a survey on the internet and over 80 % said that they are afraid to give blood because they think it hurts..."
"Because taxi drivers think switching off the idling engine frequently could cause damage and consequently cost money..."
I can find more examples if you like... To a certain extend, they might be right, but the thing is, are there any other criteria that could influence the findings? Have they ever thought about them? Is the research believable?

So we should be cautious about research.
